Wallachians in Eastern Serbia cherish the cult of life after death. On the occasion of xerophagy (pomane) the ritual recorded in the film takes place. It has its roots in ancient pre-Christian times. It is belived that on this day the soul finally leaves this world and takes its place in heaven, according to its merits, having visted all the places where the deceased had stayed during the lifetime.
