A specific, festive headgear named ubrađaj is part of wedding rituals of Serbs autochthonous to the area from Szentendre to Zemun, and preserved the longest – well until the mid 20th centry – in Sombor and nearby rural households. Ubrađaj is composed of a gold-embroidered rectangular scarf decorated with flowers, worn in church and in public by a bride for up to one week after her wedding, as well as on especially important celebrations until the birth of her first child. Its splendor reflects the family status as well as the national identity, and it symbolizes God’s blessings. A series of events includes the entire family in the custom, as well as the obligatory embroiderer, photographer and others.

Slobodan Vukobratović from Sombor is a member of the Urban cultural and artistic society Ravangrad, which nurtures the customs of the autochthonous Serbian population and organizes folk performances for manifestations. He has published a book on customs related to wedding guests.
