Mariela Ducase works in the laundry of one of the top film schools in Cuba. She is a great support for the students who stay there and someone they can confide in. “Маriela”is a simple, personal portrait that subtly deals with maternity and Santería in Cuban society.

Sylvia Martín Sánchez is ananthropologist, specializing in documentary film and photography. She trained in documentary film at the Cuban International School of Film and TV and in Photojournalism at EFTIC International Photography and Film Centre in Madrid, having previously graduated in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the Miguel Hernandez University in Elche.
