Villagers of Oparić are preparing their slava festivities dedicated to Holy Martyr George, celebrating the holiday that sends away the winter, stirs up spring and awakens all senses. In spite of fertile soil, the number of cultivated fields in Oparić is steadily decreasing, while weeds and abandoned gates are increasing. However, the people, the plants and the legends in this Levač village still work together on making the picturesque wreaths for St. George’s Day. From the premordial times to the Instagram. Since 2015, St. George's Day has been in the National Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Serbia. This Christian and national holiday is celebrated throughout Serbia, but each region nurtures specific beliefs and customs that celebrate St. George's Day
