The train named El Chepe crosses the northwest of Mexico. He's going from sea to the desert. In the middle lies the grandiose Sierra Tarahumara. El Chepe is our portal towards that isolated world. Those who live there – Raramuri, Yoreme and Mennonites – hold to their vision of the world and their ways of life. How to approach them, when you're a foreigner? How should you travel, when you want to open trails and leave footprints?
Miguel Coelho studied at the French documentary school "Les Ateliers Varan". He directed two short documentaries "One eye to see, the other to feel” (2001) and “Alda" (2006). He worked as cinema teacher and editor.
