In an autonomous zone between Mexico and Guatemala, where a border never existed before and is now difficult to pass, two eleven-yearold Maya girls try to change their lives through music. However, the very different cousins, Alejandra and Aleida, also have very different ideas of what origin means. Does music have the power to change a life? And what does the search for identity mean when one has been separated from one's own origin?
Ozan Mermer was born and raised in Berlin. He studied film direction at University of Television and Film Music in Munich. Later, he specialized his studies towards documentary film making at the renowned film school Centro de Capacitacion Cinematografica in Mexico-City
