What is life like on small islands, in this case, Male and Vele Srakane near Lošinj? At the Male there are two and at the Vele three persons, and every day they share the special island life, unusual for most. It tells the story of the vitality of islands that have been “dying” for decades, but yet keep living: changing at the same time as well as being conserved. This is paradox in which the Srakanjezi live – Ana and Werner Kohl in Mali, and Silvano Skrivanić and Blanka and Igor Rukavina in Veli Srakane.

Ljiljana Šišmanović was born in Zagreb. She graduated in Croatian Language and Elementary Education at the Zagreb Faculty of Philosophy. Since 1994 she has been working at Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT) as Culture Program Editor.
