In the attics of Roma houses all over Vojvodina we have found around a hundred VHS tapes which showcase the most significant parts of the lives of the Roma – weddings and wedding rituals. The tapes were made between the late 1980s and the 1990s. Some of the wedding rituals were preserved and are practiced until today, others were transformed, and yet others were almost forgotten, but have been successfully recorded in this film. Early and arranged marriages, as well as the cult of virginity, present a common part of Roma tradition. Older and younger generations tell stories of customs dictated by the wandering past of their community, and the desirability of such customs today.
